Day 3 at adventure camp>

30/03/2007 7:30-10:00

It was the last day of the camp. I was confused whether there was more despair or happiness. I had morning stretches which was very interesting and different from what I normally did. It was done in groups and not individual.

After our breakfast, we had to pack our luggage to prepare to go home. Before that, we should be responsible by clearing up all the mess we made.

On the bus departing for school was a long journey to me as my feelings was a mix of this and that which I, myself could not differentiate too.

-------------------------
Overall, I found the experiential week memorable. I slept and showered together with Wind and Waves... hoho!!!

There were also cute moments whereby Bee A made an oath that he would never gamble again if Waves could come down safely from the pole of CRC, and also when we were on the bus departing for school, Wind shouted loudly that Waves was not fond of listening to Jay Zhou's songs... Haha... Immediately, Bee A tuned his MP3 to another song. Kawaii, right?

Oh poor Waves, she don't even like Bee A...

Day 2 at adventure camp
>

29/3/2007 8:30-17:59

On the second day, my group members and I had to face a challenge known as ‘The Wall’. We had to find ways of getting each and everyone of us over the wall. It was considered a very tough task to us as the boys in my group were quite slim and not as strong as compared the boys in the other groups. However, we were persistent enough and still managed to surpass all the difficulties.

To my despair, it was raining and so some of the activities had to be cancelled. I had learnt one of the habits of mind which was to think flexibly. Our trainers led us to one of the dormitories where we spent the time playing games to bond our friendships.

After lunch, we headed on for rock climbing although it was still drizzling. From this activity, I learnt to be more confident in whatever I will be doing and never to have doubt in my own limits.

I was very unlucky to be given the most difficult station of high elements to walk across. There were two thin strings and nothing to grip onto for balance. Before I started to walk on the strings, I lost my balance and fell. It was an embarrassing sight though I did not give up and managed to carry on until I finally completed the task. From this activity, I realized that I could actually go that far.

18:30-22:00

My class had our campfire preparation in the dormitory. Every one of us was very cooperative, we thought and communicated with clarity and precision and we did not hesitate to give ideas or to question and pose problems.

On the campfire, I was a bit depressed that we did not perform very well. I appreciated all the efforts the members had put in so it was disappointing that we failed to do the best. At least, we had shown to ourselves that we could be really united in ways.

Day 1 at adventure camp
>

28/03/2007 12:30-17:59

It was the two days three nights adventure camp at Dairy Farm Adventure Centre. I arrived at the Dairy Farm Adventure Centre with my schoolmates in the afternoon where we set up for a Nature Walk in the Bukit Timah Hill.

During the walk, I saw many species of plants and insects which are very unfamiliar to me. In the beginning, I thought that hiking was an easy activity, but after the Nature Walk held on day 1, I realized that there were a lot of obstacles on our way making it difficult for us to walk through. In our lives, there are many challenges which we have to face. When we are solving the problems, we are getting rid of the obstacles obstructing our way so we must be persisting and well-prepared.

19:30-21:30

In the evening, there was a song session. I learnt to be united by joining in the fun and cheering loudly and also to respond with wonderment and awe. These made the whole activity enjoyable.

Later on, I went on a Night Hike which was so thrilling. Everyone was so afraid that they would be seeing spirits but this did not end my excitement towards the night hiking. From the start till the end of the hike, we were supposed to hold hands and stay close to each other so as to avoid danger. While we are waiting the other groups to gather at the field, I closed my eyes and gathered data through all my senses. It was only then I knew the reason why some people chose to lead a simple life in the rural areas. It was because those places with less people and less man made things were the most peaceful place to live in.
